Well things don’t always go the way we plan. I was going to go to Clear Lake in the morning and then Rapjohn in the evening. The almost continuous thunder and lighting kept me awake a big portion of the night. In the morning the storm continued with huge amounts of rain, therefore I stayed indoors until 3:30pm when my son Bo and I headed out to Rapjohn. There were only 2 other boats on the lake.
We started fishing by trolling. We did this for abut an hour with hardly a nibble. Bo wanted to fish for bass so we stopped at some lily pads. He had a texas rigged worn and I put on a buzz bait (I think). We didn’t get anything so we moved to a new area. Bo wanted to use the buzz bait so I let him. I got tired of casting so I put on a worm and bobber and casted it out toward the deeper portion of the lake. I was watching Bo cast and get the buzz bait up to the surface when SPLASH. “OH MY GOODNESS.” The large mouth bass jumped and then went for the lily pads. Bo muscled the fish to the boat and it went under the boat. I kept telling him to get the net. We netted it. It is the biggest bass I have ever had in my boat. We didn’t weigh it but it was 15inhes long. His first bass and first fish in about 4-6 years. We took pictures and let it go. While I was trying to send a picture message on my cell phone of the bass to my other son and daughters my pole started jerking and I got a trout to the boat before it came off the hook. That was it for the day. We weren’t skunked.
Once again I was out fished by a son!
