Fished along the rocky bank past Tum Tum today. Started at 6am and covered the majority of the shoreline. Caught four squaw fish and three smallies. Nothing big, but still fun. All fish were caught on a lipless crankbait (Strike King Red Eye Shad). Left at 9am as the wind had brought all the debris my way. On my way home I stopped at the launch near the Spokane house and Little Spokane River. Water was moving pretty good. I started using a jerk bait (Lucky Craft Pointer). I would let the current take it a bit, reel it back slow, give it coulpe jerks, and let it suspend. I know a lot of people like to tell stories about the one that got away. This is a true story, and a very disheartening one to say the least. I love to fish for bass, but I don't have a boat. So, the majority of the bass I do catch are smallies. My biggest to date weighed 5.2. Anywho, I got bit, but missed him. I gave it another jerk and let it sit. I counted to 12 one thousand just waiting, and bam, I got slammed. I knew it was a good fish as I saw a head come out of the water and shake around. Huge largemouth! He was determined to throw me loose, and he eventually did. I got the fish within 7-8 feet from the dock I was standing on. I saw him when he spit me loose. This bass was 23-24 inches, and fat. I got a real good look at him with my polarized sunglasses. All I want is a six plus pounder, and he got away today. Drag to loose, to tight, don't know. I like to keep it a bit loose so they can run if they want. I think I got to excited and tightened it to much, my bad. I fished till 11:30 with everything in my tacklebox, tubes, chatterbaits, you name it. Only more squaw fish. Oh well, I guess I'll just keep on trying!

Great job, and good luck landing him next time. I believe you on the size. My son and I have posted under Lake Spokane for the same lake. (wish they had one site for Long lake/ Lake Spokane). If you bring him in next time post a picture.
Good Fishing Ahead.
