I got up at 4:30 to get to my spot and hopefully grab a few smallies this morning. I lasted an hour before the wind made me call it at day. Don't get me wrong, i tube several times a week. Wind doesn't bother me all that much. White caps do. So i packed up and went home. Later on in the day i noticed the wind calming down a bit and repacked the truck. I drove to the boat launch in Kennmore and got in there. But rather than heading out to the mouth like i usually do, i smashed down my barb and headed up river. 4 hour of solitude and fishing. Only saw 3 other boats the whole evening. I was working the shoreline and available structure with curly tail grubs and stick baits. I'd love to tell you what worked and what didn't; but i guess i can only tell you what didn't. Everything i threw didn't work. I landed 1 small cutty and about a dozen sculpin. Great evening of fishing, bad evening for catching. Tight lines all!

When you said you headed up river from the Kenmore launch... I assume you are talking about up the slough? I was just asking on the forum the other day if anyone fishes the slough. The area up near Bothel Landing park looks really nice Maybe you were in that area?

I was. I think. I spent 4 hours working my way up the slough. Got way the heck up there too. I've had some excellent days of fishing up in the slough, but not this year. This spring i CnR'd a ton of cutties up there. A few were really impressive. In past years i've had some great perch and smallmouth days too but this summer is killin me so far. I even went to my favorite Snohomish County lake yesterday and only caught one. I had some 40 to 50 fish days there last summer. It's the lake i go to when i need to soothe my fisherman ego and feel like a bass pro. I released a 12lber there last fall. Point is: it's a gimme lake. Has been for the 5 years i've known about it. Not yesterday. Anyway, the slough is a beautiful stretch of water but i'm not sure it's worth the work. Are a couple of great days scattered among dozens of bad ones enough to make this a regular fishing spot? It's the place i go when i'm lazy and don't feel like driving more than 10 minutes. Sometimes. My "lazy 10 minute drive" radius has a few other spots too.
