Ha! I can't believe someone else tried Ronald Bog this week. I just moved to Lake Forrest Park and wanted to explore my local fishing options. Ronald Bog indeed! All my friends thought i was nuts to even get in the water there but it really paid off. Sort of. (God i love float tubing!) Minutes after getting a worm in the water i had my first bite. Got the hook set too. Then watched as this fish blasted me down to the last few wraps of line on my reel. Literally went from one end of the lake to the other in about 10 seconds. Blew my mind and stressed me out when i started to think about it and realised i had on 2lb test leader. So i kept the drag loose and babied the fish for about 20 minutes. Finally managed to land a 14lb carp. Not what i had in mind but a lot of fun none the less. As it got close to dark i also got the chance to learn my fish finder wasn't broken. It was pinging fish all day but i was seeing nothing and getting no other bites to boot. Just before dark i kicked what i thought must be a branch i hadn't seen underneath me. Nope. Another carp. Then another. Then another. They were schooled up and cruising around just under the surface. Dozens of them. Couldn't get another carp to bite but i did end up with 5 pumpkin seeds to finish out my 6 fish evening. Went back the next morning with my bass gear.......but that's another story. Tight lines all!

(Why boat when you can float? )

It's been awhile since I fished Ronald Bog. When I first moved to the north end I noticed the bog on my way to work. I've caught some small bass and stunted sunfish. Did not know of carp being there, how was your presentation, bottom fishing or bobber? I found this place to be a great place to teach my daughter to fish as well as Scriber Lake, another small body of water, more like a big pond. Anyways you make me want to go back and throw a line. Lots of small lakes in the area so you should have an abundance of places to go, good luck and welcome to the area

Thanks NE1. Been in Seattle for 5 years now. Just never lived close enough to Ronald Bog to care about it. I've actually done a lot of fishing in about a 20 mile radius of home in the past few weeks. (Off of work for a month and gas is expensive!) I've found a lot of my "go to" honey holes are producing nada. I wonder if the unusual weather we've had this spring is having any effect on my fishing, or fishing in general. The fish just don't seem to be in the same phase they were in this time last year. Still catching ok but my numbers are way down from last year. Maybe i'm in a slump and making excuses. Ha.

I have fished the Bog many times over the last 20 years. Have mostly caught little bluegilll and sunfish I am pretty sure we have also caught some catfish out of here. Always with tiny piece of crawler under a bobber. I have never seen or caught a single bass out of here. I have seen lots of rats though! I have also fished at Twin Ponds Park over on 155th and Meridian. We have only caught sunfish, bluegill and quite a few catfish. From what I understand Echo Lake, Ronald Bog, and Twin Ponds all connect to Lake Washington somehow. Beware though these lakes are all very gross. I don't even let my dogs go in the water.
