My son and I fished Leech from noon to around 6:30. Had good success with nymphs landing brook trout and trips, about an equal number of each. The trips looked more like footballs than trout! We switched flies when the fish started to feed on flying ants. Tried to match the ants the best I could, but had no true ant patterns. Fish didn't seem to mind though - they kept hitting. The day was great. We hooked many fish and returned them all!

How was the road in? Much snow a still around? Sounds like you did real good.

We didn't see any signs of snow. I saw snow way up on the peaks but none down near the roads into any of the campgrounds. When we got to Leech the gate across the road was locked. We originally parked out near the highway, but then they came in and unlocked the gate so we pulled in and parked. I spoke with another fisherman who said they'd kept the gate closed because they hadn't gotten around to cleaning up the campground after the winter season. The fishing was great. Several pontoons with everyone looking as if they were catching good numbers and good sized trips. The brookies were even a little bigger than I've seen them in the past. I just hope I can get back up there...soon!
