first time at eloika not as impressed as we thought we would be but we caught fish.
my step dad and i launched at jerrys landing at about 8:00 and had intentions to catch bass we tried plastics which was impossible with all the weeds so we switched to topwater and no luck so about 1:00 we decided to find the crappie and perch and we found them in about 10-13 ft of water just perch though no crappie the whole trip we caught plenty of keepers but had plenty at the house from long lake so all fish were released water temp on the main lake stayed at 68 but we went back into this slough and i fished with a spinnerbait and i cast and hit a tree on shore my lure falls right on top of the water and a 4 lb bass comes out of the water and hits it right on top the water temp was 72 back there i also caught a three lb tench on a crappie jig with my ultra lite so it was a decent trip but not what i expected my family will be in a cabin there in about two weeks and hopefully the fish will be full force by then..
until next time...

Elokia is a different lake for sure. It is full of weeds, but full of great largemouth, perch, and crappie.

It takes some time to figure it out, but when you do, it can be rewarding. Still, if you are not into fishing weeds, lots and lots and lots of weeds, Elokia may not be the place for you. Oh well, you do pretty well from what I can tell at other lakes.

We were out Monday and last Wednesday and the fishing was abnormally slow for some reason. We caught nothing but a few perch and 1 sunfish. Others we heard from did no better. I blamed the slow fishing on the near full moon and the high price of oil. Gotta blame something, right? We will probably be back this weekend though. The weeds are just getting to where we like them and crappie fishing should get hot soon. :)

You Need to fish pig and jig in a june bug color with a trailer something Heavy enough to dive through the weeds cause we all no once the sun cant get through the weeds nothing can grow you have a blanket on top and nothing but feeding largemouth underneath it maybe frustraing but with a little time you will get the big ones Still a run off Northwest side cooler water there try just bouncing it offf the bottom TRUST me will work
