I fished from 3 PM to 5 PM on a sunny, 75-degree breezy afternoon. I motored up to the north end of Clear Lake, and drift-fished along the shorelines. Using a silver Acme Kastmaster 1/8-oz. slab jig, I cast-and-retrieved the lure by twitching it and letting it flutter down every 2 seconds. I got no strikes. I then trolled into the wind back to the south, and continued to twitch my lure. I only caught (and released) one 12" rainbow trout after 2 hours of fishing. There were several other boats bottom-fishing with bait, and fishermen trying off of the military resort dock, but I don't think anybody was catching much. There was lots of boat traffic and a few tubers, so waves and 10-15 MPH breezes were making it difficult to steer at times. There are several other nearby lakes that probably offer more action than Clear Lake does now. I was a bit disappointed that the action wasn't better.
