I finally got to try out my new pontoon boat (8 ft one person) and definitely wanted to hit lake Joy. After some fine tuning I was off and casting. I had three rods set up with floating rapala, black jig with blue trailer, and a pumpkin senko.

I managed one dink in 2 1/2 hrs of fishing and had several hits. The only non-producer was the jig. Beautiful day on the water, got some video and had a pleasant morning. The pontoon worked great and best of all just tossed it in the back of the truck and away I went.

Must be strange bass in Lake Joy Mike -- not wanting to bite a black jig with a blue trailer :)

Where and what time of day have you been fishing Joy anyone???? I've been there a few times in the last week and my wife and I haven't even gotten a sniff at a variety of lures thrown. We've been working the docks mostly. I love the layout of Joy and I understand the bass bite has been off to a rather slow start, but any help would be much appreciated. My wife is starting to bring books to read.

I was thinking maybe an eveing trip would be better. As to the jig, I will say it's kind of tricky casting an open faced reel from the pontoon. Not real comfortable and I did get a fw backlashes.

But yup, strange to not have the old stand-by work. I'm betting it would have worked for you, Bob. LOL
