Fished the lake today (Tuesday) from about 11:00 to 6:00. It was a tad windy & a bit wet - I was fishing alone & had my hands full!!

Caught 9 cutts & kept 4. Let 2 go (appx 15" each) & lost 3 next to the boat - 2 while trying to net them by myself w/ the wind blowing like hell! To make matters worse, I have one of those Frabil C&R rubber nets,.......which are heavy, particularly w/ the wind blowing into them. Aside from these, I had a lot of hits & takedowns, which came of nothing.

The afternoon was slow, but the bite really came on about 3:00. Up to that point, I'd fished the whole water column, from 20' to 40'. Around 3:00, I was fishing at 30' deep - & things started to get really hot. Not sure if it was the time or depth, but from 3:00 on - I was fishing @ 30' getting takedowns left & right.

Anyways - the 4 kept were about 16 inches to 20 inches. I really wanted to release the 2 smaller fish, but both were severely hooked (gills/eye).

Cheers!

Great report! I was "hiding" out in Juanita Bay from the wind and did well as well. How are you cooking up your cutts? I pan fry mine.

Hey SlimySab,

Boy - it was windy last evening out there! I haven't fished the Juanita Bay area, but I'm thinking of working a route that goes from Champaign Pt, south thru Jaunita, then pass Waverly beach - then across the lake to Magneson, up noth thru Sand Pt, then pass Thornton creek, then up to Mathews Beach - then back across to Champaign. Haven't done it yet, but if I do, & have success - I'll post it.

I'm not fishing today - I may go out on a friend's boat tomorrow (depending on the weather) who is pretty familiar w/ the south end of the lake. He's going to show me some of his favorite spots, depths, etc.

I've had a few cutts filleted, pan fried w/ a little olive oil, butter & Johnny's seasoning. When the weather warms up - I look forward to some grilling. Also, I'm looking at getting a smoker. However, most of the fish I've kept so far, have gone to my neighbosr. They're a big family & told me they'd take all I have to offer. That was before I started bringing them all these fish! I'll be releasing much more fish then I actually catch.

Cheers!

Try both the south side of Juanita, starting with the woody area in about 30-40 ft then go across to the north corner where the bay starts.

Also try from Sand point down to Webster point and fish in about 50 -60 feet of water at about 30 feet. I get alot of Sockeye in that spot (trough) in July. ( C&R )

I pan fry my cutts in olive oil and lemon pepper. Mmmm
