Went out this evening & fished from 5 to 8. Caught 3 blackmouth, but no cutts. Two of them were hooked pretty good, so I focused on getting them cleared & on their way. I was able to snap a shot of the last one.

Saw 2 other guys trolling in a red Lund - If that was any of you - I was the guy who said he'd caught 2 (at that time) & you asked what depth.

Cheers!

Just wondering, what's the minimum size that you can keep those?

You can't keep them when the salmon season is closed. When it is open, it is usually minimum size 12 inches, but that is usually for coho and sockeye only. It's been a while since kings were open to retention in Lk WA.

Isn't it a little early for kings? Are you using cut-plug herring?

Hi Derrick - yep, cut-plug herring.

Lots of blackmouth in the lake. I'm new to fishing this lake, so I'm not sure how their numbers compares to years past - but they're out there & they're agressive.

I don't bring them into the boat - I get them unhooked, while they're at the side of the boat & still in the water.

Just as a general observation, based on the few I've caught & compared to the cutts - the blackmouth don't seem to jump like the cutts, but pound for pound, they're better fighers.

Cheers!
