My buddy and I got to Clear lake today at about 2 P.M. Never been here before, but I wanted to get into some smallie action. It is a very nice lake and of course very clear. Water temperature was 58. Caught allot of smallies today but none over 1.5 lbs. We both limited out on trout as well. I think most of the osprey were over their daily limit of trout too. Saw some bass on beds but the majority of the beds were empty. I don't think they have spawned on this lake yet! Wind kicked up to about 10-15 around 4pm-7pm then died off. I had success with a red rattletrap, senko's, jigs, and yammamoto's flippin' hawgs. Would have like to of seen some bigger smallmouth but considering we were fishing a coldfront we had a good day. Definitely will go back soon. All bass were released and a few trout were taken for the dinner table. I broke my personal record for smallest smallmouth. I would post the picture but it's too small to see. We ended up leaving at 9 P.M. Tight lines everyone.

Interesting to hear there are smallmouth in Clear Lake. I have caught some nice largemouth in that lake but never heard of smallmouth. Calls for another trip down there.

We caught the trout in about 10 feet of water just off the drop to 20 ft. Caught them with the rattletrap and crappie jigs and light line! Trout love rattletraps! I even catch kokanee with my rattletraps.
