Invited a friend and his son to go out in my canoe. Put in at the new boat launch about 8:00am and paddled across to the float plane. Usually get the first fish between the plane and the bridge...not this day. Scooted under the bridge and worked our way around the lake in a clock-wise direction. I think the water is still a little cold, sorry no thermometer. We were all using small jigs under a bobber. I was using the trout magnet in white/chartreuse. We tried different colors and at one point my buddy tried a worm with no success. Size of jig did not seem to matter, Shawn and his son, Lance were using 1/8 oz jigs and I was using 1/64 oz jigs. We were only able to catch seven fish between the three of us before we had to give up about 11:30. I caught a bass about the size of my index finger and a palm sized bluegill and a couple of small crappie. Lance caught his first crappie and he was so proud he had his dad show him how to clean it and took it home for his mom to cook for his dinner! It is always great to see a kid catching fish.
