we drove through a few areas of drizzle to get to riley at 0720. it was fairly warm and dry by the time we put in and we had our first fish at 0745. we were the only boat on the lake with a slight northerly breeze and we watched the low clouds swirling around the nearby hills. it was our first time here this year and we were enjoying the morning along with a guy and his 2 kids fishing from a dock. we trolled using wedding rings and powerbait and the fish came slowly but fairly steady. they weren't real big, but they sure hit hard and put up a good fight. slowly but surely the people started coming with their boats, playing with their dogs in the water, and even a few brave kids were swimming out to the middle of the lake and jumping off a log, lol. by about 1100, there were about 6 or 7 boats on the water and it was warming up, so bubba and i called it quits. we waited for 3 canoes (along with their dogs) to put in and then we headed in and cleaned our fish. we ended up with 1 limit between us (5 keepers). most were in the 12-14" range, with the largest at 15". a pleasant morning of fishing.
