5/27/2008 12:25:00 PMAs for Clear, the secret is to change depth, and presentations, often. That lake can be super one hour and seem like a dead sea the next. Good luck.

Took my kid out this morning to Clear Lake. I had heard and witnessed some nice German Browns come out of that Lake. Wasn't in the cards for us this morning. Fished from 7AM to 1PM and never got a bite. Tried trolling with flashers and wedding rings, and bottom fishing with worms, come, and marshmellow. No luck! Bought a new pole and reel yesterday and had it break into two piece while trolling. I wish I can say it was a fish, however, I think I got hung up in a shallow area. Will be sure to have the drag open next trip! I was also using 8 lb test trilene. May be too heavy a string for this type of fishing...Not sure!
Folks at Dan's Landing charged me 20 bucks for a row boat. I thought that was a bit steep. They apparently charge by the hour. Hopefully, will have better luck next time!
