Went to Spanaway after school and rented a boat from about 12:00 to 3:00. The water was very calm with a sunbreak here or there. The fishing was very consistent along the stretch(hotspot). I caught around 15-20 little stockers all around 10-14". I caught 4 immediately just trolling powerbait, but didn't want to want to limit out very fast, so I started using wedding rings, and kastmasters(single barbless hook of course). These were also producing, but not as fast as the powerbait was. There were lots of people on shore fishing also, and they also seemed to be having success, the best part was no jet skiers. I caught and released all fish caught, I noticed that one of the fish caught had a nasty red bump/sore near it's tail. All in all a good day fishing and was very glad I went. I will be back.

Yeah I was amazed there were no jet skiers. I think it's probably due to the 10 dollar boat launch fee, so they won't be coming out until it's prime time for water.

How much to rent a boat?

$4.25 an hour. Kind of expensive, but at the moment it's definently worth it.

Sounds like a good day! Did you also release the fish you caught w/bait???

yeah I released the fish on the bait also, I was trolling the bait so they were all hooked on the lip, so no danger there.

Nice report Awoods, sounds like a good outing.

Better re-check the regs wishin..

On page 37, Under Statewide Freshwater Species Rules /Trout it says.. "In lakes, ponds, and reservoirs: No min. size. Daily limit 5. When fishing with bait, all TROUT (except STEELHEAD) equal to or greater than the minimum size are counted as part of the daily limit whether kept or released."

"whether kept or relased" Which means you can legally release fish caught with bait.

So as long as Awoods was not using bait after the 1st 4 fish, he was perfectly legal.

Thanks for clarifying that Gringo. As soon as wishn brought that point up I kind of had to think about it.
