Just a so-so day on Cottage. I was actually quite disappointed for several reasons. First of all, the gate does not open until 6am which means you can't get out while the larger fish are feeding early in the morning. Second, all the ones we caught were 8-9" and that's all. I recall fishing here about 5-6 years ago and catching some nice planters in Cottage lake unlike all the small ones we got today. It was not a total bust though. A buddy of mine caught his first two fish on a fly line. He only had a floating line so I set him up with 2 split shots trolling a green and black bugger with some krystal flash in the tail. I was fishing with a full sink line and a green bugger with a red head. He got the first fish of the day from there on out it was pretty inconsistent. I finally switched to a haley bop leech as we trolled back to the launch and started getting more strikes, but all of them with small nibblers. This just isn't a trout fishery. I know it is known for it's fantastic bass fishing, but trout fisherman shouldn't even bother with the trip. I wish I had gone to Blackmans, Pine or Rattlesnake instead. No photos, none of the fish were worth photographing
