Fished with my daughter again today. Used a 8 foot leader for 2 hours got nothing. Doubled the leader and got the limit in 20 minutes. What a great day!
Is anybody getting any lings or halibut? I would appreciate some reports!

How do you cast that? Are you dropping it straight down?

You'll have a hard time catching any lings right now with tides in the 13-15 range...those are LARGE swingers and it's stupid to even try to fish in that stuff. Wait until next week and into June when it really heats up. I nailed 3 on Opening Day and supposedly after talking to some charter capts. that was considered "amazingly good." I didn't think so, but whatever. Lings are real picky in the Sound; not like ocean lings. You have to time it just right and fish areas where the current runs hard cause lings love current. There are some holes that always hold fish no matter what...getting them to bite on 15'+ swingers is another ordeal. It's fun stuff.

Glad you got your limit with your daughter and you didn't capsize this time! Good stuff! Nice report!

No problem danm it is actually pretty easy if u try and get used to it and the fish just jump on the line

Thanks KTK for your report. I usually go 3-4 times every season for lings over possession, but I don’t do much. Have not been there, yet, this year. Maybe next week. Thanks again!

what pound line are you using for your leaders?

I used a 5lb leader on a10lb mainline.

2-4 lb is all you need for trout. I fly fish these lakes and my leader is 3.3 lbs - 12ft, 5X tippet. A 10LB main line is too thick for these trout. 6 lb maximum when trolling. Leader line 4LB is great. KTK
