Well I haven't seen a fishing report for Spanaway Lake in awhile so I thought I'd be courteous and go down there and let yall know whats going on with the lake. Lucky day for me! Right when I got there I saw a truck shooting all the stockers into the lake! 6000 of them. It was crazy. Everybody was casting their lures near where they planted them, and weren't really getting anything for about 5 minutes. I didn't want to join the group of all those people, so I stood about 30 feet away and used a kastmaster. I and others caught tons of fish all about 10-12 inches. Released all of them. The fishing was good for probably an hour and a half or so, but then died down. Switched to powerbait after the kastmaster wasn't working anymore and caught three like that. Those fish hit the bait hard and swolled em, so I kept 3 fish to take home. But what an experience, Ive always wanted to witness a lake actually being stocked. There were so many fish jumping, it was unbelievable. Well I might be back tomorrow, weather pending.

That's all,
AWoods

my buddy fished there sunday and released about twenty or so all 9-12 inches on mayflies .one thing about state stocked fish why do we have to pay to launch to catch fish we paid for ,there are tons of state stocked lakes with no launch fee just a thought .oh ten bucks to launch hmmmmm.but thanks for the report nice to see spanaway reports.

the wdfw has nothing to do with the fact it's $10 to launch there. Pierce county parks and recreation owns and operates Spanaway park. I've complained formally before, because it's a ridiculous launch fee, and they don't charge people who actually use the park to be there.

Yeah the launch fee is ludacris, If I want to use my boat I just go a couple miles down the road to American. I like that lake more anyways.
