Started fishing about 12:30 or so at the far end of the lake. We had 2 poles out. One with a perch crankbait and the other with cowbells and a rippin minnow (along with a 3/4 oz weight ahead of the cowbells). Went past a point and caught 4 squawfish pretty quickly. Fishing slowed down so I trolled a little closer to shore and my mother in law (mb) hooked up with what turned out to be a 16 1/2 inch (1.5 lb) rainbow. Trolled a little further, turned around and went back through the same area. This time MB caught a 21 1/2 inch (3lb) Chinook. Needless to say we were pretty excited. Went back through a few more times, but nothing. It seemed both the rainbow and Chinook bit when the wind was blowing and putting some chop on the water. We were fishing probable the top 10 feet of water. Sure is nice to be able to put the boat in the water and tie her up to the dock again. Talk about a long dry spell before they raised the water. My sonar is out (the cold messed it up i think) so I don't know how deep of water we were fishing. Pretty nice day on the lake (hardly any snow at all), and a lot more sunshine than expected. Going out again today (20th) to see if the bass are biting in sportsmans cove area(down from Suncrest).
