Got started about 9 AM on Friday. Launched at Spirit Ridge and headed for the hump at the net pens to try our luck at catching triploids. The morning started out slow catching only 1-3 pound fish with barb less hooks and rubber worms using drop shot rigging 12" to 18" from the bottom. The water flow had stopped shortly after we arrived at the pens. We wanted to continue catch and release so we stayed barb less but tried local flys and jigs with no improvement.. I finally caught a 5 pound triploid with 1/2 oz jig head covered with a 3" white tube. My son had switched back to drop shotting and he caught a 4.5 pound triploid. The wind came up and the water flow had started so were able to get a better drift. We had decided to make one more drift and call it a day. We crossed the drop off at the start of the pens and my son hollered "Fish On" and he was excited. 15 minutes later we landed a 20 lb 11 oz Triploid. The fish measured 31" long and 21" around. He caught this using a 3" curly tailed grub, pumpkin-seed in color using the drop shot method. He had 4 lb fire line braided line on a cheap ultra lite fish rod and reel combo I had purchased last summer for the grand kids to use last summer. The barometer had been steady all day and there were only 6 other boats on the hump. Man did we have fun and enjoy our day. What a way to start out our fishing season. We will be back!!!

SalmonSlayer, Don't read his opinion if you don't like it. Your never going to be able to stop people from expressing their views, so you can let it bother you or just ignore it...

Salmon Slayer,I didn"t read it that way, i figured he was encouraging other people to properly catch and release fish legally until you get the one (or two) that you are allowed. GREAT job , my wife and I wanted to head over this winter but road conditions held us up. but we will make it.Fishing here in western wa. has been good, but not
THAT good.
