I took my 6yr old son out to the dock at the Lake Spokane launch. I didn't expect to catch much of anything other than suckers and squawfish, but we didn't get any bites at all. We tried suspending bait from bobbers and floating worms with marshmallows from the bottom. Neither worked. I did manage to get some pictures of a young man fly fishing the Little Spokane just up the road.

BTW, there have been a few reports recently that have been posted under the Long Lake category. This area, where the Little Spokane river dumps into the Spokane River, is Lake Spokane.

I posted more pics in a forum post here:

OK, I confused. If there is no dam, no channel connecting two bodies of water, no natural or man-made break between the two, then is there a difference between a Lake Spokane and Long Lake? Are they just two names for the same body of water?

Even the WL.com description for Lake Spokane tells me that it is often called Long Lake.

So what is the actual name of this lake? Is it one or is it two? HELP

My mistake. Long Lake doesn't start at some mysterious point. Long Lake doesn't really exist. Lake Spokane is a 25-mile reservoir, running between Nine Mile Falls Dam and Long Lake Dam to the west. The reservoir holds its elevation throughout the summer months, but is drawn down in January. Some call it Long Lake.

Same lake, just some people call it Long Lake and some call it Lake Spokane.
