My buddy and I took the row boat out about 3:00 on Saturday and fished all around the lake with weightless live nightcrawlers without even a nibble, I then switched over to my trusty white spinnerbait and after about 15 minutes I cast out and was reaching for the trolling motor when I felt this guy just about rip the rod out of my hands! After a startled delay I set the hook and tried reeling it in but I had my drag really loose for some stupid reason and after about 20 second of not being able to gain any line I finally tightened it up and got her in, weighed, photo'd and released. Not the graceful catch I was hoping for but it worked. The fish was 4 pounds 1 ounce and as you can tell by the size of the belly on it, they are getting ready for the spawn in this small lake. About twenty minutes after I caught this one I was reaching for the motor again when I got another good strike but my reaction time was just too slow, they were hitting the spinner bait either on the fall or when it was sitting on the bottom. Left the lake after that because I had to do some things. Definitely a nice day to be out though.
