Marc, Dave, Mike & I had planned a day together at the lake. I was on the water by 10:00 AM but I hadn’t seen anyone else yet. I started by trolling a wine colored wooly bugger from the south end launch north along the east side cliffs. The water was calm and there was only a very slight breeze out of the north. About ½ way down the lake, I switched to a black bead head wooly bugger and crossed over to the other side of the lake. Still no fishing partners in sight. About that time I hooked into a nice fish. Fought him for about 7-8 minutes and finally landed a 20” brown trout. I removed the hook while the fish was still in the net, and I never it out of the water. About that time I noticed a fisherman in a blue pontoon boat. I gave him the thumbs up, and he hollered back “Lotech Joe.” It was Marc. We finally tied up. Dave was with him and Mike joined us all shortly thereafter from the north end of the lake. All four of us were successful that day with everyone catching nice sized fish. The bite was fairly slow until about noon. Then it picked up. At least 2-3 times that day, two of us were hooked up at the same time. Dave caught the biggest fish of the day. He said it was so big, he couldn’t get both hands around its girth. (No photographic proof Dave. You’ll have to do it again.) We were all trolling flies. Black Wooly Buggers, Green Butt Cary Specials, Green Leeches and Orange Soft Hackles. It was a great day on the water.
