OUR GROUP ARRIVED AT HEART LAKE FRIDAY MORNING & WE SET UP CAMP. HEART LAKE WAS PLANTED WITH FINGERLINGS A COUPLE YEARS AGO & WE ENDED UP CATCHING DOZENS OF TROUT THAT WERE 8-10 INCHES.
A COUPLE PEOPLE HIKED TO SAGE, LONG, CANAL & WINDMILL LAKES. THE FISHING WAS SLOW & MOST OF THE TROUT WERE ABOUT THE SAME SIZE.
WE TRIED POWER EGGS, WORMS, BOBBERS, SPINNERS & WET/DRY FLIES. THEY ALL WORKED.
THE LAKES WERE GORGEOUS & FOR THE MOST PART, WE HAD PEACE & QUIET.
HOWEVER, SIDE STORY #1: ONE DAY A FAMILY OF 14 (ADULTS & LITTLE KIDS MIXED) CAME TO FISH. THE KIDS WENT BERSERK & WERE SCREAMING/RUNNING EVERYWHERE, THROWING ROCKS AROUND & INTO THE WATER...WE'RE FISHING! THE ADULTS TALKED REALLY LOUD. THIS TRAVELED ACROSS THE LAKE, BOUNCED OFF THE CLIFFS & ECHOED BACK.
SIDE STORY #2: THE NEXT DAY, THERE WERE SEVERAL GROUPS OF PEOPLE FISHING, ALL OF US ENJOYING OURSELVES. A WHITE 4-DOOR PONTIAC PULLS UP, TWO GUYS GET OUT, POP THE TRUNK, SET THEIR GEAR UP & START TO FISH. THE DRIVER REACHES INTO THE CAR & CRANKS THE STEREO! AFTER A HALF HOUR OF NASTY STARES FROM EVERYONE, THEY SWEAR LOUDLY BUT PACK UP & LEAVE.
WE ALL WANT TO ENJOY THE PEACE & QUIET OF THE GREAT OUTDOORS. PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR NEIGHBORS.
FISH ON.
