Went over to Banks lake on Sat. and Sun., what a great place, this was my first trip over here. Sat. morning dawned clear and cold, about 36 deg., but it warmed quickly. Started out on Barker flats in 20 to 25 feet of water with a home made silver smile blade spinner, with a natural colored gulp worm trolled real slow, about .6 mph. About 10 min. into it I hooked into a real nice fish. It fought hard pulling line then after about 2min's it just got off. What a heart breaker. After that we had four more hits, but only landed 1 15 incher. That was caught by my buddy Ron who was using a similar rig to mine with a green smile blade. Beautiful morning with sunshine and great scenery till around 1:00pm when it clouded up got windy and started to rain.
Sunday dawned partly cloudy with a slight breeze. Still a nice day when the sun was out, just not as nice as Sat. Did the same thing today as yesterday except that we tossed and drifted jigs for a little while. No takers. today we had 3 strikes while trolling with another 15 incher for our efforts.
Interestingly, the water warmed from 43.8 on Saturday to 44.7 on Sunday! I don't know if that's normal for Banks, but I haven't seen that on any other lake of this size before. The temp varied from different locations on the lake, but the listed temps. were the same area on Barker flats.
We had a good time and will be back soon. Good luck
