Was camped at Blue Lake for 5 days and saw limits everywhere. most of the fish were kokanees. they were mostly 8-11 inches. People who stuck it out and released the kokanees were able to get limits of 12-14 inch rainbows. the kokanees were jumping into the boat when trolling a red or green wedding ring tipped with the 2" tail from a Berkley Gulp pumpkinseed 6" nightcrawler. The rainbows were mostly at the south end in 30+ feet of water, we used every color of powerbait for them, it didn't matter.
The perch in the cove are smaller this year, 8+ inches. couldn't find the big perch from last year that were 14 inches. A guy fishing of the dock with a worm caught a 24" brown catfish about 9:00 p.m. Sunday evening. The kids had a blast catching the yellow belly sunfish and bluegills of the dock. Grant County Sheriffs patrol the lake on Sea Doo's. There will be two of them together. They do spot checks, the kids have to have a life vest on, and there has to be life vest for each adult. They then did a complete check to make sure I was legal, throwing device, fire extinguisher, horn, etc. I passed as I keep everything current for ocean fishing, but there were a lot of people comparing tickets on shore.
