Headed to the big lake to fish with Kzoo. We launched at noon and fished until dusk. We planned on fishing for sculpin but we ended up finding some smallies as an added bonus. Between the two of us we had 4 bites, 3 lost fish, 1 boated smallie and one boated (potential state record) sculpin. All fish were found in 30-40'. Kzoo fished the dropshot and I tossed a football head and swimbait. Had one fat hit on the swimbait in 27' of water and lost a nice smallie under the I-90 just 20min. after boating the 3lber. Kzoo lost 2 nice fish and one close to the boat. Only excuse he had was the hangover he was experiencing for the Nyquil he downed last night. Hope you feel better bro, I expect you to be on top of your game next time. The day was nice with low wind and sun breaks. The only miserable time was the downpour midday that lasted 30min. That sent us up under the bridge for some relief and that's when we had the most activity. A lot of short bites, but they are moving up and becoming more active. Couple more nice days and the bite will be on. Until next time, see ya on the water.

Ya, sorry about the pic. Looks like a cell phone pic. That camera is the one that has taken a lot of the pictures in my photobucket. Don't know what the deal was.
Skeeter, it was 43 with increases up to 45 in some areas.

I had a similar camera problem one time when I was fishing with Mike Carey. I had taken some close up shots and had assumed that the camera would return to auto focus after it was turned off and then on again. I didn't check it, it remained on the close up setting and Mike and I ended with blurry photos. Mike posted them anyway on his Spencer Lake report.

Nice report ! That water temp is still low, but you guys made it happen. I think I'll be heading to the big lake today. Maybe see DanielT out there. I'll be sure to hit under the bridge.

Good job, I'm excited for the smallies to be moving up shallow!

The photo is a total "NyQuill" haze!

irishrogue - I was thinking the same thing about the photo. LOL. I hate Nyquil hangovers. Kzoo was still a trooper taking me out and not feeling 100%. I appreciate him still willing to fish through it. That's when you know a guy is a true basshead. When he'll fish ever chance he can get, no matter what.

I would love to git on this lake, my boats to small. My buddy with a bass boat tells me its to cold to fish, there not biting. I love it when others prove the fish are biting. Haven't caught many smallies, looks fun. NICE CATCH!!! theoutdoorsman@hotmail.com

How small is your boat ?? I used to take my 9 foot plastic with a 3 horse and trolling motor on it all the time. I would drag the boat through the grass at Coulon, launch it, drive out the log boom and work my way down to the old mill, turn around and come back. Only when I knew it was light winds :) I'm sure someone will get you out on the water; I went out on sunday and me and my buds lasted an hour, COLD and windy !
