I'm getting sick of being the only contributor. Of course, that might be because the boat launches are a little dry. Kinda figured some shore fishers would be getting in on the goods by now.

Took the sled upriver (less than a foot deep in places, so be careful prop-users!) to the convergence of the little and big Spokanes. Played around fishing the eddies behind rocks and points. Tossing a spinner I got a small stock trout, who got to go free. For a change of pace, I decided to drown some worms in the back-eddies. This produced one whitefish (use small hooks!) and some monster peamouth suckerfish. Quite a fight when you are expecting a little troutski.

Water level is coming up about a foot a day right now, but that means we are a minimum of 2 weeks from high water.

Is this the same Long Lake with a small resident population of northern pike?

Yes there are a good number of pike in the lake, and it produced several state records in a row.

Jared, its about 10 feet and 10 days away.

I'VE FISHED LONG ONCE BEFORE AT THE NINE MILE CAMPGROUND, CAUGHT LOTS OF BULLHEAD, LITTLE BASS AND SQUAWFISH.
WHAT OTHER FISH DOES THIS LAKE HAVE?

I've caught largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, perch, bullheads, squaws. I've seen a lot of carp and heard about pike and trout. Thats what I know about the lake's fish.

To answer the question:

SM bass, LM bass, perch, black crappie, tench, northern pike, northern pikeminnow, chinook salmon, rainbow trout, brown trout, grass carp, common carp, largescale sucker fish, peamouth, flathead, bullhead, channel catfish, and whitefish are well known and catchable. Others that MAY be in the water per anecdotes are sturgeon, burbot, and walleye.

Water is almost to the docks at our place.

THANK YOU..
ME AND MY STEP DAD REALLY ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING ALOT OF FISHING THERE SOON.
IS THERE STILL ALOT OF CURRENT OR HAS IT SLOWED DOWN ENOUGH TO PUT A LITTLE ALUMINUM BOAT ON?

Water level is still a bit too low to launch. The current will be flowing fast for a while, but a jonboat will be safe by next weekend.

Get some goodies and head up to the area at the confluence of the little spokane and the main body of the lake. Fishing the point, the little, and the two backeddies just downriver of it. Should be some good fish in there.

Id be there, but Im in South Dakota right now.

Suckerfish are plentiful, but its a walleye-like tap, so have a tight line and be ready for anything resembling a tug. Smaller hooks will get you some small trout and whitefish, while larger baitgobs and hooks will get the bigger suckers to fight. Spinners were putting out trout before, but I havent been out in a week, and the water levels changed. Worms were great, and you can get them right near where you fish at the Nine Mile Feed store.

Last time I saw the catfish they were down near sportsman's paradise, a month ago. That and the carp. Cats might be found out near willow bay as well, thought shore fishing will be tough.

Glad to see that willow bay produced. Water must be getting a little warmer down-lake, so maybe thats the ticket for the next few weeks.
