Well wow. What a day I must say. Up at four-thirty to make sure I'd make first light as I didn't have the boat or any gear whatsoever loaded. I ended up taking the SR 530 route as I now live about six or seven minutes from that turn off on the same highway. Got packed, loaded and boom, on my way. I knew it was gonna be a great day as there were barely any clouds I could see in the darkness with the bright moonlight as I trudged along a winding road which did turn into a nicely graded gravel road with a few pot-holes but most were nice and shallow and easily avoided anyhow. It did get steep a few times and had washboard here and there, but never was it too bad. Started seeing snow along the side of the road and thought, wow, that's a little more snow than I'd expected to see. Well, it became deeper and deeper looking more like Stevens Pass during the boarding season. Luckily it was VERY well maintained and all the snow was off the side of the road. I ended up at the lake a little quicker than expected (I've never even been there before, hahah) and proceeded to drive around it lookin for the launch. Well, I either missed the launch due to it being totally snowed in or the plow making huge three plus foot drifts along the side of the road itself. Anyhow, I made it all the way around totally missing whatever launch there is and finally got close enough to the water to realize, ha, this big ol lake is almost entirely frozen over. It was dark still, so I hadn't really gained enough vision to see that until then. Well, alright then, time to leave here. I ended up turning around and starting on my way to Lake Stevens where I knew it wasn't frozen. I was on a mission now! It was totally worth it to drive up there just to see the view of the valley below as it started getting light. Something else I tell you what. Guess I'll post up a report for Stevens since that's where I actually fished today, hahha. i was on the water by seven-thirty, ah yeah.
