what a fun day out with the new raft. its a sevylor "fish hunter" with an Minn-kota trolling motor on it. one of my Christmas presents.
spent most of the time plunking powerbait in the middle of the lake with my raft, with the occasional trolling with spoons and spinners. powerbait seemed to be the key for most fisherman, but i watched one older gentleman hook and land 3 or 4 spawning cutthroats. one even had a nice hook to its jaw. he was using a bronze kastmaster. for me, i was having technical difficulties staying in one spot because of the lack of an anchor. i ended the day with no fish but i was fishing right next to a couple guys who were killing trout on powerbait, they told me they were having so much success because they were anchored on top of a spring and the trout were milling around it. i was at the lake from 11am-4pm and was fishing most of the time, but took about an hour to have a nice BBQ of hot dogs and burgers with a couple Buddy's. i also tried trolling blue fox spinners, kastmasters, and rooster tails but in my opinion it is still a little to cold for lures. i recommend fishing here earlier in the morning because that is when most of the fish catching took place.
