I swear, as soon as I get a couple of weekends off, we get the storms of the decade roll in.
Today we got there in a snow storm, and it snowed at least 3 inches on us from 2:30 to 5:00 PM. The wind was not bad at all, but it was COLD.
When we got there we heard about how slow it was, and how nothing was hitting after the snow hit. Well, I will agree that they were not hitting, but they were biting somewhat. Using micro ice spoons, tipped with maggots, and microlight rods and lines, two of us hit about a dozen perch (7 or 8" long), about a dozen pumpkin seeds, and one crappie about 6". You needed to just jig it, and watch the line. When the line did not fall all the way, set the hook.
Now, this is not easy with the trout rods we saw others using, or the 4 LB + lines we saw, but it could be done. I have plans for next week that don't include fishing, but perhaps in two weeks if the ice holds.
