Had the day off but some honey dos to do so I managed to get out to Sunday Lake and try for some sunnies. Little cold at first but it warmed up. The weather, not the fishing. Tough fishing for them this time of year but at least the lab had fun. He could have been the reason I didnt catch any. Ya, thats the ticket......

Ah yes, Sunday Lake. It has been some time since I fished it but it brings back some nice memories. I fished Sunday for bass, from a canoe, on four different occasions. Never caught any lunkers but did catch several fish with the best being caught in March 1986. That fish was 15 3/4 inches and weighed in at 2 pounds even -- and was hooked on a black jig. As I recall, the lake becomes quite weedy during the later spring.

lilly pads pretty much swarm the area. I didnt last year because of my rentless pursuit for walleye on the other side, but the 5 years prior I have done really well for decent bluegills. Actually its by far the biggest bluegills I have found in this state thus far but they still werent giants. However, one year I ended up catching about 1 perch a day that were close to the 12 inch mark. Had my 1 man pontoon out there and absolutely could not find a school. Wierd. Had one guy come up to me as I was putting my boat in once and he told me he fly fished it one day and caught a monster crappie. He also told me he didnt manage to catch a trout. I told him I believe this is the only lake that I know of in the area that don't hold trout. Ive never caught a bass in here bigger than 2lbs,

Hey Joe, ya think I'd be able to get my 12 foot aluminum in there without too much issue as long as I had a buddy with me? I'm goig to try and hit that lake sometime in the near future, but you know me, I wouldn't be apposed to dropping my canoe in there, just love fishin outta the canoe.
