Came back to find more Brookies. Tied on Buggers again and pulled them aroung, various retreives, no hits or bites! All other guys coming by reported similar. One guy hooked into a couple on a Damsel.
I cruised the perimeter and worked the shore stripping buggers and got a couple hits later in the morning. Late morning I saw a Mayfly hatch coming of from about a 1 foot band of mud near the shore. The wind pushed them around a small point and I saw movement on the surface. No surface takes, just beneath the surface. I frantically tied on a nymph and rigged it on a floating line and fished it about 1" to 1' below the surface. WHAM, twice in a row I had monsters (relatively, probably 18" or so) and they instantly broke my 7X tippet. I switched to 5X and landed the next 2, a 15" and a 13" brookie. Well, I had got the skunk off my back and it was getting late so I headed off of the Reservation to make camp. Planned to fish Summit on Sunday (see report). Good luck to All!
