I went to Beaver with my dad and my neighbor today from 2 until around 4:45. Pretty good day. We trolled lures (Wedding Ring, Needlefish, High Lakes Special) to the other end of the lake and didn't get a single bite. We stopped at the end of the lake and casted out. We were drifting for a few minutes and decided to drop anchor. I reeled up my slack line I had from drifting and I thought I was in the weeds. I gave it a gentle lift and started to reel up to clean the weeds off. My dad pointed it out, I had a fish on by accident! I fought him to boatside and he started to give a great fight. He ran under the boat and scuffed my line, and I lost him on his next run. When I saw him, it was almost certainly a recent plant. It was huge, a pretty silver and not dark like the other natural fish being pulled out of that end right now. I rebaited and casted back out. We sat another hour, and my neighbor got the next bites. He pulled up a nice 10" (measured) perch. He threw it back and got another bite but he missed it. Probably the same perch. Then we pulled anchor and trolled to near the boat launch with no bites. We saw some fish jumping so we dropped anchor again. We found a nice 35' hole in the middle of some 5' flats. I got a bite and reeled in a very nice 4.5 # rainbow that fought well (this time I was extra careful in the fight).
Crowds: Relatively light for this week, boats are spread throughout the lake evenly. Lots of pontoons. Point was empty, park side had maybe five rods.
Fish: Smarter than they were, but still dumb. Spreading well, jumpers all over the lake.
Weather: COLD!!!! My Jamba Juice didn't melt at all the whole time.
