The temp was in the low 40s, do not know the water temp.
No wind, clear sky. The water was as clear as a bell.
I saw in Sportsman’s Warehouse, on their fishing board that the fish were biting on “any fly on a clear bobber with a 4’ leader.”
I started out with a black wooly bugger trolling with my canoe. The first time I went from end to end I got a strike…missed it. There was a fellow in an inflatable kayak fly fishing with a fly of his own design called a “wooly worm” and he caught a 21” rainbow mid-morning. He was using green, so I switched to green. There were also a couple of young men in a rubber raft that hooked into a pretty big fish (dilpepsi, perhaps) I got excited just watching them! There were a few fish being caught, but not by me. I tried worms on the bottom, powerbait, I tossed my fly for a while, I tried the trout magnet…all to no avail. This would be my fourth trip in a row getting skunked and there are fish jumping all around me. This is very frustrating. So I put a worm on under a bobber and caught three or four little trout just so I would not get skunked. Not a great day on the water…next time maybe!
