Put my canoe in at the old boat launch. Used the electric motor for the first time...nice, got me to the mouth of the creek and half way back, not too much rowing. By the time I got to the creek it was full light, no shade, no structure of any kind that I could tell. Being a fairly new fisherman and not knowing exactly what I am doing I saw a couple of trees sticking up out of the water so I had a sliding float rigged on my pole with about four feet of line between the float and the hook. Put on a nice fat worm and tossed it out between the trees. BAM I got a strike and it was exciting (bare with me I am new and do not get this) the fish jumped clean out of the water twice before I got her in the boat. It was a nice Brown trout about eleven inches long. I stayed right there and caught two more browns about eight inches long and tossed them back, caught another about ten inches and a rainbow ten inches long. Went up the creek as far as I could go , fishing all the way with no results. Fished all the way back to the mouth and caught another ten inch brown at the mouth of the creek! I thought I would try trolling on the way back, but I really do not know how...no success with that. When I got back to the boat launch there were folks fishing from the launch and one had about a nine-ten inch brown and told me they had tossed back a bunch of small perch.
It was a good day on the water.
By the way, there is a notice at the new boat launch that says they have lowered the water level (seems stable for the last week or so) to repair and inspect the dam and the lake will be filled again on the 28th. So my guess is that it will be at least until October 6th before the boat launch would be usable.
