My first fish out of the gate was a 7 pound rainbow, which made for an exciting beginning of my annual fishing trip to the Okanogon country. For the next four days, however, I practiced mostly catch and release of mostly small trout, rainbow and kokanee. My family and I did have plenty of trout to eat even so. Then on the last evening of our stay at Liar's Cove, and with the weather conditions looking really fishy, I tried for more quality trout; after many strikes without hookups, and with light quickly fading yet another trout slab took my bait. This one was 22" and about 4-5 pounds, also a rainbow. What a grand beginning of a week of fishing, and what a grand finale!
