Fished at Coulon yesterday and today. Yesterday, i went there with perch in my mind. Turns out, i was catching bass and a bunch of bluegills instead. Caught a 10" bass, and a couple of ~6-8". My very first bass i might add. Then at about 7:30, a school of bluegills arrived. Was hitting them within a min of a cast.

I was on the dock that's at the very end of the path.

Then today, i went there expecting bass. Got there at about 5. Hardly anything until 7. Only had a couple of small bites. But then all of a sudden, perch started attacking. Cast, tighten line, fish. Repeated this about 6 or 7 times.

Got a "monster" to my standards for a perch.

I fish at Coulon all the time. I'd stop and say hi, but I don't know what you look like ;)

Today was my 3rd straight day there. This time, I only had a couple of miss bites, and 3 fish. 2 nice size perch ~9-10", and this weird looking fish. It was thin, long and silver around ~10". There was this black couple there fishing and they said it's a squalfish or something like that?

Oh, also I gave that big perch away to the black couple yesterday. When I bumped into them today, they told me it had worms, barf.

I still have some nightcrawlers left, so I think I'll try again on Thurs morning. And probably go back at ~6. I'm on vacation this week. Feels good.

I'll be the asian guy with the black seahawks hat.

Don't sweat the worms. Alot of perch are infested with tapeworms, but that is limited to the gutbox. Just fillet the meat and don't open up the gut sack and they are safe to eat.

even if they have worms in meat, through cooking should render them safe. gross, but safe.

I couldn't eat it, if I saw the worms in the meat. My gag reflex would rein supreme over my hunger instincts. The funny thing is most of the fish we eat have some sort of bacteria or parasites in them anyway that we cook out.

You're not supposed to be eating Northern Pike Minnow(squawfish) or perch from lake washington. They are packed full of PCBs and Mercury. But if you do decide to eat them, you have to bleed, clean and pack them on ice immediatly after catching them. That is why the worms probably made it out of the digestional tract into the meat. Most of the fish in Puget sound, and the rivers / lakes that drain into them have worms.
