My buddy Terry and I took the 2 hour trip to Silver Lake twice for a 3 day fishing trip. Terry was slaying them using a 3/8oz chartreuse spinner bait with a two-tailed grub trailer and a perch colored willow leaf blade. Every time we went into a channel, he flipped the spinner bait into the Lilly pads and retrieved it very slowly. I used everything from white spinner baits to jigs & pigs and even senko's, but did not have as much success as Terry. Our main area of fishing was the two channels on the northeast side, the one with the DAM and the one just south of that one. The more southern channel has logs down in the middle in various places that hold good fish right in the middle of the channel. You'll see the channel narrow to where only one boat can pass through at a time. Right there and about 10 feet in front of it are two logs that hold fish.
We caught tons of fish, most not very large, but had lots of fun. Many areas of the lake hold fish, but we were unsuccessful around most of it. Hardly anyone was on the lake either fishing or boating the whole time we were there.
Silver Lake is a great lake, and the people you find on it are friendly. If you haven't been there, you should go!!!!
