Just got back from Fargher Lake. I thought it was the body of water WSW of the town of Fargher Lake, but I was told that is all private and the place to fish is north of town. You take the road right next to the store, 156th Street, go north until it turns into Ried Road and the "lake" is right at the four-way stop. When I arrived after being skunked, as usual, at Battle Ground Lake it was about 9:00am a little overcast, cool. No wind to speak of. There were some other anglers on the opposite side, they told me later that the one fellow was fishing a worm on the bottom and caught a salamander...that was all they caught ! lol I was using the Trout Magnet set-up from Leland's Lures. I used the chartreuse color and floated and twitched like the instructions say and BANG a got a small bass after about twenty minutes another ten minutes or so and I caught another. It was a hoot! I know they were tiny, but the were fun. The only down side was that someone had left four large (probably steelhead) fish heads to rot on the shoreline and they smelled bad! When I left there I went down to the Daybreak Boat Launch. The water is too low to launch a boat, but I wanted to fish the stream. It was a lot of fun, but I did not catch any fish. I did see lots of small fish and the two anglers from Fargher Lake. Not much to show for it, but it was a really good day.
did u purchase the trout magnets online? if so then instead of paying the shipping and handling go to wal-mart they always have them in stock and they are the only store that carries them. i have heard that the only thing people catch outa fargher is small bass nothing big, i wonder if its because there are to many fish in there because that can stunt there growth.
well last time i went there about late june i caught a bass about 2 pounds, it was one of many 8 -10 inchers but i saw many larrge fish. you have to use a raft to get the big one cus they like those weed beds along the far sides of the lake. I found that silver/black rapalas work the best..almost every cast was a hit. Those fish in there are so active there jumping for dragon flys all day haha....well like i said you need a raft to get the good action.
Yes I did purchase my Trout Magnets on line. The guy at Lelund Lures, Jeff Smith, gave me a really good deal, but had to charge $4.95 shipping. I asked him where I could get them locally as I had tried Sportsman's Warehouse. He told me they do carry it, but not all the stores he also said he was going to do all he could to fix that in the spring. I was at Wal-Mart tonight and saw they had the Trout Magnets. Their price is 35 cents higher per pack than the web site, but you would have to buy a bunch to make up the shipping cost. I will try the silver/black rapala next time, thanks for the advise, guys, I appreciate it.
anytime, i am always trying to help fellow fisherman because i know how hard it is to get information on fishing and that's another reason why i love this site!
