Well I must be losing my touch I got out fished again by my good friend Brian, he caught the most with 5 fish (3 different species). I as usual, caught the biggest in two different species SMB and Tiger Musky. Now its brag time. After buying a new rod and reel after the Tiger Musky meeting on Thursday (with my winning raffle coupon...$10 off!) I decided to break it in today. This was both good and bad. After adjusting the bait-caster for casting without spooling I simply overlooked the drag setting..oops! I had two different muskies strike my lures and failed to set the hook before I realized the problem!?! The good thing is I knew where they were. After giving them a long break and hitting some smallies I returned and was only able to visit one of them which I definitely got the hook set. This is my personal best a 44x21 approx. 24.25lbs. I got the girth in the water while bleeding profusely so I may not have gotten the fattest part. I reached in the net without gloves to remove the net from its lower jaw and just that quick 1 head shake and I was sliced open! OUCH!!!! I am now waiting for my wife to return to help me decide whether to get stitches or not! As always I filleted him and he is now on the BBQ......come on I wouldn't do that! LOL. He was released and swam away very happily, why not he got a piece of me!
