My girlfriend Susan and I went out to Lake Wa today. 8:30am-2:30. Fish seemed to be biting well. We caught a lot of dinks, so we probably got 10-15 fish each. A couple perch, and a 3lb squawfish were also caught. Mostly were caught using drop shot rigs. Around 1pm we had a great experience. I started it off with a 4.2 smallmouth. When I pulled this fish into the boat, I swore I had my first 5 lb smallie, man this fish was FAT. Barely measured 18 inches long. My girlfriend Susan caught her 3.9 lb smallie about 15 minutes after mine. That's her biggest smallie so far, and I imagine will get beat fairly soon :) These fish are really eating up. A lot of 11-12 inch fish were caught, and a few around 14 inchs, Great day on the water.

Oh by the way I wished you would have kept the big squawfish and gave it to me I could have cut it up and used it for perch bait..they make the best perch bait out there. And the smallies will hit it too readily if they are crusin around lookin for a meal...you get a squaw fish for bait and you are in business!

Nice job! Hers looks like 5 lbs! We hit LW last week and only picked up a squaw fish and 2 perch. Have been told that great smallies hang out near boat launch at Coal Creek and under I 90 East channel. Any suggestions what part of LW can be productive would be appreciated. We are C&R only.
