Fished Brown's on 10-11 July 07. My parents were in from Arizona and Mom wanted to camp and fish in the worst way....had not done so in several years. I figured a good choice would be Brown's and it's great camp ground. We arrived to find only one other site occupied. Total fishing time was limited due to the competing requirements of the camping trip, ie kids, dogs, hiking, swimming, life guarding, etc. We found the lake to still be quite clean and cool despite 7-8 feet of water loss from this time last year. The fish were quite active. I managed 7-8 rainbows and cutthroats each day on olive damsel and stillwater nymph patterns. Smaller patterns, size 16 PTs, prince nymphs and hares ears worked well when the fish became less active and were short-striking the large patterns. The bows ran from 10-15" and the cutties from 8-13". All seemed to prefer a deep and aggressively stripped presentation. I saw only sporadic midge hatches and an occasional may fly but large numbers of adult damsels. Dad was content to "hold down the fort" while I gave Mom a crash course in fly fishing and kick finning a pontoon boat. She got skunked the first day but got two the second day and lost two others at the boat, her first trout via flies. She had a good time!
