Fishing Buddy Mike L. and I launched his boat onto Wildcat Lake at about 5:00 AM to look for some "Dog Days" bass. We both fished hard until about 11:30 when the wind came up and the temperature soared into the 90s. Fishing was tough. We never touched a bass off a dock. I lucked out and finally hooked 7 bass -- 3 on a jig and 4 on a Rapala. Most were dinks but 2 fish were quite respectful going 13 1/2 inches and 14 inches. The 13 1/2 incher came from a sunken boat we spotted on the bottom and the 14 incher came off a big log about 35 feet from the shoreline. One dink hit a jig off an off shore float. The Rapala fish hit on the surface in pad openings and near shoreline. All were thanked for the memories and gently released.
