I went to Dog Lake to escape the heatwave, only to find that it was quite hot there as well -- despite the elevation. The heat seemed to have effected the fishing as well. Fishing was much slower than it has been compared to my last several trips. It took over an hour to get my first fish. I ended up catching my limit, but it took about four hours. The sizes were 8 inches (that one got turned away), 10, 12, 13 and 14 inches. I was fishing along the highway side of the lake with pink power eggs, and about 18 inches of liter. One word of warning: This hot weather has brought out the mosquitos. I have honestly never seen mosquitos like I did yesterday. The lake was literally encrusted with a blanket of mosquitos. They were in swarms. I went through half of a bottle of repellent, and still got about 25 bites. Make sure you have lots of clothes and repellent if you attempt to fish this lake right now. I think I am going to hold off a few weeks before venturing back up this way.
