FINALLY BROKE THE CURSE.... Ever since this season opened I have had little or no luck on any given Sunday on this lake... We had relatives in this weekend and I just had to sneak some time in on the lake - the only day was Sunday - but I did not care, I HAD TO GET A LINE WET... Got there around 8:00am, the point by the pump house had a few folks there, but I got to one of my favorite spots anyhow.
Dropped in the Orange Powerbait, coated with attractant, 1/2 oz sinker & 36" leader - and within two minutes a good fighting 14-1/2" rainbow on the line. The winds were present but not as fierce as some days. Got my fix of fishing in and left with (4) 14"-16" rainbows within 1-1/2 hours.
Would of stayed longer if possible...but relatives with in town I feel I was lucky to sneak in some time anyhow...
I did not see any blooms from where I was off shore - as for the muddy taste - I saw a comment on the site somewhere about removing the mud line from trout. Skin the trout and the mud line is visible about 1/2 way down from the back - it is sort of an off-white color, trim this out and there should be no muddy taste I recall it saying. I have not done this myself - I have only experienced the muddy taste towards the end of the fishing season and with the larger fish. I BBQ'd these with Lemon, Garlic & Butter and didn't taste anything unusual.
