we fished riley for the first time today. there haven't been many reports on it in quite a while, but we were looking for somewhere new, and we knew it should be relatively quiet there. we put in the water at 1410, and had our first fish by 1420. there was no one fishing when we got there, but there was lots of activity around the sons of norway side. i don't have to mention the weather, but i still have a sunburn. we fished there for about 4 hours, trolling bait and various lures., and managed to get our limits by 1830. we ended up with a mixed bag of rainbows and kokanee, all of them in the 14-16 inch range, and over a pound apiece. we released 3-4 smaller ones. the fish were all plump ones and put up a good fight. upon getting them home and cleaned, we found about half of the fish were on the 'soft' side, probably from the warm water. decided to put them with some others that we are going to smoke. it's my guess that the fish will be in the best condition either eary on, or late in the season when the water is cooler. any way you look at it, it was a great way to spend a peaceful afternoon of fishing.
