This lake has been a challenge most of the late Spring until now, but the bass were big and aggressive for those willing to fight the weeds. In just the last three weeks, I have hit, and released bass up to 7.5 #, but conditions change.

The weeds are now filling the voids under the water shield (pads) and the bass are moving out. The Osprey are keeping the bass away from the top of the open water, and the thick weeds make fishing the open water a guess and by golly deal.

For now, I suggest finding another bass hot spot.

Nevertheless, we did hit a bunch of 8" bass right at dusk, with rubber works and buzz baits. It did not really mater, just needed that 30 minutes of golden time at the end of the day.

Hello, First time Bass fisherman went to Eloika Yesterday. Put in about 5 pm fished till after 9pm... Had heard good things but was pretty disapointed for my first bass trip.
Mostly weeds at the end of my line, though my friend and i did manage to catch a few small bass 6-8 inches and a couple tiny perch. Did land one very big crappie.
We used crank baits, spoons, spinners, rapalas , floating frogs.... Any suggestions to make my second bass trip better?
Perhaps another local lake thats good for beginners or some bait suggestions.
