I took a few guys out this afternoon. We fished the bottom with a pike minnow for macks, 60' with a cop colored rapala and red hooks with flasher for cutts, 30' with ford fender with a worm, and at the surface with a planer, flies, and ford fender with worm.
The planer was a small 8" piece of plastic. It sort of worked but I'd really like to order a planer board. I noticed the trout were still feeding on the smolt at the surface. My boat scares them off so it's difficult to get them to strike my lures unless I try using a planer board to troll to the side of my boat by about 75'.
The flasher and red hooks had a strike near Juanita across from Waverly at 70'. For about a minute the reel was singin'. It got caught up in the other lure on the downrigger so while I was untangling it we lost the fish. The fish must have swam straight upward right into my top line.
