Went for a day trip Friday to the Hamptons, put my canoe in Lower Hampton about 9am and decided to try upper first. Since I had only ever hiked into this lake in the past, I spent most of the day throwing a Yellow Roostertail and exploring the lake. Caught and released more fish than I could count, all 12-14". About 3pm the bite was going off and I was tired of rowing, so I dropped anchor in what I thought was the deepest part of the lake and fished the bottom with Chartreuse glitter Powerbait. Picked up a couple standard size, so I started calling "hear lunker lunker lunker" and whadayaknow one heard me! After a nice battle I boated a 19" bow weighing in at 5#. I had a long drive home so I fished my way back to the truck, not getting even a bite out of the Lower. Came home with 4 total. For those interested - Lower Hampton was VERY cloudy, but the upper was amazingly clear (I figured it would have clouded up by now). Got pics on my camera, but haven't downloaded them yet - if I have time I will put one up this evening.

A 19in bow weighing 5# I've heard some fat trout but come on you must be exagerateing sounds more like a 2-3.5 lb trout at the most

OK, OK, I kept meaning to ask Mike to add the pic to this post because I figured I would find it hard to believe too. Your poke in the ribs was just what I needed to get around to it (thanks Mike). I have no other way to prove it, but I'm tellin ya it was #5 on the dot. I will give you that she was absolutely stuffed with eggs though..
